Moving HQ to space

Mageti Spaceflight Corporation is planning on executing its next major step: relocating its headquarters to space!

This has been deemed feasible after considering the experience gained from building and operating large spacecraft, especially the highly advanced Destiny, which have proven to be mobile and self-sufficient. The construction of a vessel capable of hosting the headquarters effectively is therefore certainly possible.

As a result, this project has entered the design stage.

The resulting craft is likely to be large; coupled with its need for mobility and endurance, this will provide an opportunity to utilise ion drives to their full potential, perhaps even resulting in their exclusive use for propulsion. If achieved, it would be an …

Prototype Space Destroyer

The ambition to develop highly capable and versatile military craft, which eventually gave rise to the Abraxis-class frigate, was first realised when Mageti Spaceflight Corporation developed the Prototype Space Destroyer.

The design requirements for such craft were set out as follows:

  • Self-sufficient in terms of crew facilities and vessel maintenance.
  • Highly mobile and manoeuvrable, with adequate fuel stores for self-sufficient travel.
  • Sophisticated electronic systems.
  • Ability to carry and deliver powerful weaponry.
  • Escape pods with good handling and endurance to escape the combat zone in case of destruction.

The resulting destroyer was the first large spacecraft built by Mageti solely for military applications. It has large fuel reserves for its…

Docking Drive Test Vehicle

(Technology demonstrator)

Long before the introduction of ion drive technology, Mageti had explored the possibility of zero fuel space travel. This started with the Interconnected Grid, an unusual structure which showed that undocking between interconnected parts can generate small amounts of net thrust; because they are held together, the undocked parts can be re-docked, allowing for sustained thrust. The nature of the grid allows thrust to be applied in different directions to provide some sort of manoeuvrability.

With this experience, a test vehicle was built around an improved docking module made only of hubs, which is much more compact. This ship had full power systems, crew facilities and conventional manoeuvring.

Operation of the docki…

Space Cruiser (cancelled)

The first attempt at exploiting the ion drive and nuclear generator  technologies was to increase the power and endurance of military spacecraft. A design for a cruiser with ion drives complementing its main engine was made. Its generators are shielded by its hull, which carriers a much larger complement of explosive modules and pods than the Abraxis-class . It also retains similar manoeuvrability with conventional rocket main, retrograde, rotation and yaw-free lateral engines.

However the shortfalls of the ion drives, namely their low thrust and inability to rotate, as well as the inefficient use of parts by this design has led to it being scrapped. The use of ion drives offers no clear advantage to this design whilst greatly increasing it…

Destiny Exploration Vessel

NaviComp code: DST

Mageti Spaceflight Corporation was eager to exploit the ability of the newly developed ion drive technology for fuel-efficient travel. However the low thrust and high power requirements necessitate a large vessel that can accommodate a large number of the drives and their powerplants.

The Destiny Exploration Vessel was the first craft to be designed in Station Designer before construction was started, ensuring the layout is as efficient as possible. It is currently Mageti's largest and most capable vessel, with the nine ion drives making up its main engine allowing acceleration comparable to the conventional rocket engines of other ships. The two retrograde ion drives allow fuel-efficient deceleration, but at a much slower…

Space Frigate Ascendance

NaviComp code: ASC

The success of the Abraxis' design led to the construction of a second Abraxis-class frigate, identical to the original. This frigate was named 'Ascendance', as the adoption of a successful design for series production marks a significant step in the ascendancy of Mageti Spaceflight Corporation's military power. Acquiring multiple vessels provides additional capabilities through combined operations.

Construction of the Ascendance was much aided by the experience from the first vessel; as a result, it was completed in around half the time.

The two frigates were shown to be capable of co-operation on an exercise to SOL for manoeuvres within its large orbit; possession of two frigates also allows Mageti to patrol a larger area…

Space Frigate Abraxis

NaviComp code: ABX

With increasing access to spaceflight technology, the potential threat of rogue spacecraft and governments to space assets has prompted Mageti Spaceflight Corporation to develop a military presence.

After experimentation with explosive modules and their carrier vehicles, and drawing much inspiration from the prototype destroyer, the Abraxis became its first large military spacecraft to enter series production.

This frigate is highly manoeuvrable, with powerful main, retrograde, rotation and yaw-free lateral engines. It is well-armed with a complement of six explosive modules and two pod multi-purpose craft, and the solar panel at its bow can open as a shield. The sensor modules provide powerful radars for target detection, …

Assistance Required, Large Reward

Our space agency, Esnardo Space Program, has had some difficulties securing funds to prototype our newest invention, the Controlled Universal Non-gravitational Technology, an invention that uses gravity manipulation to violate the laws of thermodynamics and provide infinite thrust, similar to an ion thruster but without using electricity. However as mentioned above, we do not have the budget to simulate and prototype this invention. Any agency that could help by providing the Space Agency source code files will be rewarded with this engine in 3 forms: a large stage, boosters, and a spacecraft as big as a hub with thrusters but no main engine (each form clearly emblazoned with the technology's acronym). Additionally the blueprints for sever…

Building the Falcon Heavy in real life

At the beginning of September I was standing at home, looking at a rocket with pride. The rocket was the famous Falcon Heavy. But how have I come this far to have my own SpaceX rocket? I will tell you its story now.

I have always been interested in models during my life. I have some plastic ones: a Star Wars spaceship, 2 helicopters, and 2 fighter jets. These were only so called snaptite models, which needed no glue to be assembled. Unfortunately, these models were pretty expensive for my tight budget as a kid, so I could not get many of them. However, this summer I discovered another type of modelling: papercraft. I found a website, paper-replika.com , which offered huge amounts of different models, like military vehicles, weapons, aircraf…

Emergency around the Sun

SOB was completed on the 17th of August. Our scientists began working there the next week, and the station has never been unmanned since then. Every day on the Solar Orbiting Base was a normal day without anything unordinary. But that changed on the 4th of September…

That Tuesday started quite well for the astronauts aboard the station. The sensor station on lower orbit sent very useful data to them which they started to analyse enthusiastically, when everything went dark. They looked around and asked each other: “What the heck has happened?”

The person in charge, Cpt. Alyson White immediately checked the power grid of the station, which showed a disastrous scene: all solar panels and nuclear generators were shut down and they couldn’t be tu…

A probe was needed. That's really what happened. The MIISD just needed a long-term probe that would explore the planets. Many scientists and engineers had ideas for making a probe. However almost all of these had problems in self-sufficiency, structural design and mass distribution. But eventually plans came out of a probe that might get the job done. It had to be a symmetric design, in order to distribute mass properly, and it needed ion engines, as normal engines would eventually run out of fue…

Glitch: momentum storage

Once upon a time, I was messing around with the voyager X and seperated it while spinning. I used my thrusters, and they turned me the wrong way. That was the discovery of the momentum storage glitch. Here are my findings.

  • 1 Overview
  • 2 How to get storage
  • 3 Releasing momentum
  • 4 Getting rid of storage
  • 5 Needed research

Momentum storage is a glitch that allows the player to have a ship with stored rotational velocity, but not be spinning. When you release the momentum, your ship will start spinning with that momentum. Currently only rotation can be stored.

There are a few methods to get momentum storage. This may not be all of them, research still needs to be done

  1. Undock while spinning. This is the easiest way to get storage. Just dock 2+ modules, spin, a…

Finding the way – the Direction Program

GSpace finished the Atmosphere Program on 30.04.2017. Its complete success regained most of the agency’s old reputation. Meanwhile, a twin-program for the liquid surface planet visiting Atmosphere Program was also being planned, to reach every solid-surface planet in the solar system, too. However, these missions needed to be planned very carefully, because the previous year’s disastrous manned mission was still alive in the minds of the people.

One of the main problems was navigation. The way to travel for example to GOL was very long, and included many sub-destinations, because of the limited capabilities of the NaviComp system. This problem already arose during the Atmosphere missions and meant an even bigger problem to the upcoming Apol…

Station Blueprint Designer App

This is a very exciting post.  Not only is it the 100th blog post, but it is also something that has been on my mind for a while:  station designer web app .

Commander Oz did a great job starting it off with the  Station Planner Kit. He traced out all of the Space Agency parts at scale so that you could move them around in Inkscape.  This worked really well if you knew how to use Inkscape and weren't trying to use it on your phone.

CptArcheron took this idea even further and made a station designer app that didn't require knowledge of Inkscape.  Anyone who had a computer and Java could use it.  But it still needed a computer.

Centauri Spaceworks! is taking the next step and making a web based app for designing stations.  Since it is web based…

Texture editing

As I said in my 1 year blog post, I found a way to edit textures in space agency. In this blog, I will tell you how!

DISCLAIMER: THIS ONLY WORKS ON THE ANDROID VERSION OF SPACE AGENCY

Alright. First, some things you will need:

  • A photo editor. I use GIMP, but you can use whatever you want.
  • Space Agency Toolkit (SAT) by didim99
  • APK editor
  • The game's textures wich can be found here in resources_190.zip>resources_190>textures

Alright, to start off, make your textures. Most part textures are in textures_game_module.png and textures_game_module2.png, interiors are in textures_game_interiors.png and other stuff is in the other files. You can only edit the existing textures, so dont go drawing off of them. Once you're done, make sure the png is still 204…

1 year on the wiki...

So... 1 year on the wiki. Cool. I don't really know what to say here for a couple of reasons. First of all, I've never really made a blog thing before, and second, I haven't really been active on the wiki. I've been more active on the League of Space agencies discord server. Its a pretty great place. Not only are people like LambdaTech and Csgt there, but also lots of other great people. Just like this wiki, its a great community and I would highly suggest coming over and taking a look.  Anyways, since I don't really know what else to say, I guess I will give a re-cap on what I did on the wiki and discord.  At the beginning of my time on the wiki, I didn't do much. I looked around a bit and stuff, but that was it. It wasn't until I found t…

Shooting a sports car to pieces

The Ares Program was announced in June 2018, as the first military program of GSpace. It includes developing, designing, and building weapons for the Military Forces of GSpace. Fortunately, there has been no need for these weapons yet, but Gen. G.P. likes to be prepared, so we started to develop completely new weapons.

One of our earliest ideas was a space cannon, and we decided to go for it first. If an emergency arises, a cannon can be used for attacking, for defence and for threatening. Our scientists started working on our first project, Project Aegyptus. (Every military project’s codename is an ancient Roman Province.)

After a month the blueprints of the first cannon, Aegyptus Alpha, were ready on my table. ‘The AA’ is a short-range spa…

Announcements - Blog post series

Hello there!

I have almost finished uploading my stuff to my profile, so instead of tables and other "boring" things, I decided to focus on blog posts in the future. I will still update them with missions, stations, etc, but that won't be the main part of my wikia activity.

From this week, I will start to write blog posts regularly. They can be suggestions, ideas, roleplay stories, throwbacks, real life stories, etc. The GSpace blog will be coming out every weekend, hopefully Thursday or Friday, but sometimes it can be a bit late. I hope you will forgive me a 2-day lag ;) I am also thinking about some kind of teaser before each post, but that is not sure yet.

My aim with that is to tell some - hopefully interesting - stories coming from my mi…

A huge step forward - the Shuttle Fleet

After GSpace was established, Gen. G.P. asked me to join him in an adventure. At first, I thought that he was going to the mountains for a weekend or something – it turned out that he was aiming a bit further.

When he told me, that I can be the commander of the only Space Shuttle of the agency, I accepted his proposal at that instant. As a kid, I used to watch the broadcasts about the STS missions, and I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut. Now, I had the chance to be one.

Meeting my baby was a feeling beyond description. The shuttle was waiting at GSS. Actually, it belonged to NASA at that time, and they asked us to keep it at our station, because they had problems with re-entry, but after several months of negotiations, we finally could buy…

Dysoncorp and 6F Denuclearisation and removal of WMDs

After multiple discussions, Dysoncorp and 6F leaders have decided to remove all chemical, radiological, biological and almost all nuclear weapons. It has been decided that these weapons are inhumane as they have long term effects and could cause long term suffering. As of now, chemical, biological and radiological weapons have been decommissioned and destroyed using undisclosed methods. 99% of nuclear weapons have been removed as well, including the portable ones carried by Stormers. The remaining warheads have a maximmum yield of 5 Mt of TNT and can only be carried by Titan II or LP1 missiles(SLS Superheavy ICBMs got scrapped). The few warheads left are probably going to be removed soon.

All WMDs have been replaced by new classified weapon…

A new beginning – the Atmosphere Program

In early 2017, by-passers in front of the GSpace HQ witnessed significant changes in terms of traffic. Lots of trucks, and a limo drove into the closed area of the facilities of the dormant space agency. The newspapers asked in headlines: Is GSpace going to be active again after a year? For weeks, no official statement was made, but at the end of February, in a press conference MasterPG5, together with the agency’s new consultant, Tony Stark, announced that GSpace will be reborn from its ashes after the previous year’s disastrous mission failure. They also named the first space program of the agency's new era: the Atmosphere Program.

The Atmosphere Program meant a new beginning for GSpace. Its main goal was to gather information about the …

Isopropyl Jet Engine

A group of BSE scientists, during their free time, pooled together a few bottles of isopropyl, an alcohol most commonly used as a sanitiser.

Isopropyl and other alcohols are highly flammable. Isopropyl is suitable as it consistenly undergoes complete combustion. Complete combustion produces only CO2 and water, while incomplete combustion - as is common with other alcohols like ethanol - produces CO, a poisonous gas, and soot.

The engine is simple - a 1.5 litre bottle, emptied, serves as the combustion chamber. 60ml of isopropyl is poured in, then the bottle is rolled around on a table a few times. This spreads the isopropyl all over the bottle's interior, which evaporates, filling the bottle with flammable isopropyl gas.

When ready, someone u…

PSC, back online.

From 24/08/18, the Pixel Space Agency will resume normal launches. This will also mark the start of 'Expedition InterPlanetary', a series of missions to explore and survey the local solar system.

The first launch, EXP-01, will send a 3-manned crew to splash down onto GRN's oceans. The second launch will let a satellite into orbit.

On October, the Eagle 8 will have finished being developed and will start a whole week of testing. The first 3 tests are shown on the launch schedule. By November they will be in full service.

Beyond

Beyond, or deep space, is more than 1,000,000 units on the x and y axis on the NaviComp, or may be displayed as 1000k< from (ENC, GOL, or JOR).

Research is being conducted, but from other sources, there seems to be just more space.

You could make a space station with a lot of water and a Oxygen Garden and a crew to go explore the Beyond, send a probe (like Voyager) to go to the Beyond. It wil take a long time to reach Beyond. (from a few weeks to a few months)

Depending on how nooleus added stations, it could be very hard to add non right angles. Even if it was easy, it would clearly seperated stations into "pre tri hub" and "post tri hub" because it would be nearly impossible to retrofit existing stations to have tri hubs.
