The Soyuz rocket is designed by the former USSR and Russia, for cargo hauling and carrying the Soyuz spacecraft. It can be assembled as follows to carry the LOK payload:

- This rocket's original design (the R-7/Vostok) was used to launch the first satellite into orbit, Sputnik 1. Later, it also brought the first man into space, Yuri Gagarin.
- The first version designed by the soviets were to be used as ICBMs (Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles). They were later refitted for more peaceful purposes.
