Today marks the second flight in LAS' M-R program that will ultimately put LAS' first humans into space. tThis time,MR-2 carried a live payload, a chimpanzee by the name of Bacon. Unlike MR-1, the guidance systems funtioned perfectly, resulting in a compltely successful test flight. The second stage served its purpose and was recovered in the Atlantic ocean along with the capsule. Surprisingly, the second stage ended up so close to shore, it got stuck on a sandbar! This allowed for quick recovery of the second stage. Since the SS was recovered so quickly, corrosion was minimal. It will most likely be refurbished and reused on the upcoming MR-4 mission, scheduled for early November of this year. The test "pilot" "piloted the spacecraft correctly and was rewarded with a Banana once the capsule was recovered by the U.S.S. Manchester. He happily accepted the banana and was moved to Zoo Miami shortly aferward.
